This project is the answer to an internal research and development project, around the simplification of room reservation within the company’s many locations around the world.
The development of a mobile application with a back-end hosted on AWS was decided. The application allows to geolocate an authenticated employee via the group’s Active Directory, and to propose a quick reservation of a meeting room according to the availability in the nearby premises. The reservation is effective once recorded in the group’s Outlook calendar.
The close collaboration between the infrastructure and development teams allowed us to build efficient deployment processes, while paying close attention to permissions. This project also required regular exchanges with the Active Directory and Microsoft teams, respectively for application user management and Outlook API access.
A complete GraphQL API layer was developed to exchange with several data sources, including databases, files, and other external HTTP APIs (e.g. Microsoft). The DevOps approach was central to the project, with the implementation of continuous integration and deployment for the back-end.
